The following types of removals are included:
- Court Ordered - A court ordered removal typically includes a
"Care and Protection" Petition or Order. This is a legal action filed
to protect the child and requests that the child be ordered into an
out-of-home placement due to immediate or imminent danger as a result
of abuse, neglect or other circumstances which dictate that the child
is unsafe in their current location.
- Voluntary Relinquishment - A voluntary relinquishment typically
includes a "Voluntary Placement Agreement". This is a legal action or
written agreement between a child's parent(s) and the agency under
which the child is removed from her or his home and placed in foster
care for a limited time. This may also include a Voluntary Surrender,
which is a voluntarily relinquishment by the parent of any right to
the custody of the child to the agency for the purposes of
adoption.
Other types of removals can be configured as needed by local agencies.
