This chapter provides an overview of general communication features. The following features apply to all communication categories:

• All communications have a correspondent.
• All communications relate to a case or a participant.
• All communications are stored as client interactions.

In addition to the above features, this chapter also describes communication exceptions. These ensure that only the appropriate communication methods are used to contact correspondents.
