Defining Rules and Assigning Them to Products

Cúram Integrated Case Management provides a way for agencies to translate the real world scenarios that face clients into a language that can be interpreted and used to determine the benefits available to clients.

The Cúram Express Rules (CER) language can be used to meet this goal. CER aligns the business and technical representation of rules into a single expression. This means that legislation can be directly translated into rules that can be interpreted in order to make decisions regarding client needs. CER also provides a user-friendly representation of rules allowing users to understand how legislation impacts the decisions made that affect the lives of clients. For more information, see the Cúram Express Rules Reference Manual.

Legislation is complex; therefore, the rules that express this legislation are complex. In order to make the designing of rules more efficient, a range of tools are provided that assist case workers, rules designers, and product administrators in working together to dynamically design rules, link these rules to a client's real world information, and assign them to care and protection products in order to determine client eligibility. The remainder of this section describes these tools in more detail.
