- Individuals who are residents of an institution are ineligible for Food Stamp benefits unless exempt.
Exempt Residents of Institutions
- Individual who are residents of federally subsidized housing for the elderly OR
- Individuals who are narcotic addicts or alcoholics and reside at a facility for the purpose of treatment OR
- The children of individuals who are narcotic or alcoholics and reside at the same treatment facility OR
- Individuals who are disabled or blind and are residents of group living arrangements OR
- Residents of Shelters for Battered Women and Children OR
- Individuals who are residents of public or private non profit shelters for homeless persons
