The .project file holds the project nature and builders and for a typical Java project holds a single nature and builder corresponding a Java project. Additionally in the Curam project there is a Apache Tomcat nature to signify the project can be configured for and deployed on Tomcat. The project's dependencies are also maintained in the .project file.
