About this fix pack

The information in this readme file should be read by users who plan to install IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging on the IBM PowerPC pLinux platform. This fix pack adds support for the IBM PowerPC pLinux platform to IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging.


Installation and configuration

This section lists hardware and software requirements for installing IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging components on the IBM PowerPC pLinux platform.

Hardware requirements

The processor and disk requirements for installing IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging components on the IBM PowerPC pLinux platform are as follows:

Processor requirements

The minimum processor speed required for running IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging is 1 GHz.

Disk requirements

The following list shows estimated disk requirements for installing IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging components on the IBM PowerPC pLinux platform.

Software requirements

Before installing this fix pack, make sure that you have installed IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 and fix pack 4 on the destination system.

Installing the fix pack

  1. Download the fix pack.
  2. Extract the files into a temporary directory.
  3. Copy the files extracted in the previous step to the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory (by default this is located in /opt/IBM/ITM/).
  4. From the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory, run the following command to start the installation process:

    ./setupLinux.bin -console

  5. The following prompt is displayed:

    Press 1 for Next, 2 for Previous, 3 to Cancel or 5 to Redisplay [1]

    Type 1 and press Enter to continue.
  6. Press Enter to display license agreement.
  7. Type 1 and press Enter to accept the terms of the license agreement.
  8. The following prompt is displayed:

    Press 1 for Next, 2 for Previous, 3 to Cancel or 5 to Redisplay [1]

    Type 1 and press Enter to continue.
  9. If the installation directory does not already exist, you are asked if you want to create it. Type 1 and press Enter to create this directory.
  10. The following prompt is displayed:

    Press 1 for Next, 2 for Previous, 3 to Cancel or 5 to Redisplay [1]

    Type 1 and press Enter to continue.
  11. When prompted for the installation type, press Enter to accept the default type with which the program will be installed with the suggested configuration.
  12. The following prompt is displayed:

    Press 1 for Next, 2 for Previous, 3 to Cancel or 5 to Redisplay [1]

    Type 1 and press Enter to continue.
  13. The location in which the program will be installed as well as the features are displayed. Type 1 and press Enter to continue.
  14. The installation is completed. Type 3 and press Enter to finish and exit.
