About this document
The TXSeries Program Temporary Fix (PTF) is a collection of cumulative
product patches and recent software fixes. For TXSeries, separate PTFs
exist for CICS and for Encina(R). Installing this PTF updates
TXSeries CICS from version 5.1.0.0 to version 5.1.0.1. This README file
lists the APARs that have been fixed in the
TXSeries
CICS 5.1.0.1 PTF, and gives important notes for all supported platforms.
Note: For information about TXSeries CICS PTF install
procedures and prerequisites, refer to READPTF_<lang>.htm
file that is
included in the PTF image.

Contents of the TXSeries CICS 5.1.0.1 PTF
The following are important notes about TXSeries CICS 5.1 on all
supported platforms.
- The following CICS enhancements are introduced, starting at TXSeries CICS
5.1.0.1.
- [AIX only] Support for ACUCOBOL-GT
Version 6.1.2 has been introduced as a new development environment for TXSeries CICS
applications. Refer to the IBM support flash 1175878 for more
information about using ACUCOBOL-GT Version
6.1.2 and TXSeries CICS together.
Note: ACUCOBOL-GT is a registered trademark of Acucorp,
Inc.
- A backup of CSMT.out is taken as a CSMT.bkp file every time a CICS
region is restarted. However, you can choose to disable the backup
option by setting an environment variable CICS_CSMT_BACKUP_DISABLE in
the region's environment file.
- EAM samples are shipped under the directory <Product install
directory>/src/samples/eam.
- You need the TXSeries Encina APAR IY58053 if you are going to use EXTFH for SFS
with ACUCOBOL-GT.
To obtain TXSeries CICS PTFs, do one of the
following:
- Get the CICS PTF
CD-ROM. Insert the CD-ROM into
the
drive, then follow the installation procedures that are given in the READPTF_<lang>.htm
file, which is available on the CD-ROM.
- Download the PTF
from the TXSeries Support
download
Web page at http://www-3.ibm.com/software/htp/txseries/support/.
Follow the instructions that are given on the Web site, and download the PTF. Then,
follow the installation procedures that are given in READPTF_<lang>.htm file.
- [AIX only] Use the FixDist
application to obtain the PTF for CICS for AIX. For more information, see Downloading
the AIX PTF from the IBM FixDist service (AIX only).
This section contains guidelines for using the IBM FixDist service to
obtain
the CICS PTF. FixDist enables you to download AIX software
fixes
directly from an IBM anonymous FTP server. You must have the FixDist
application installed on the machine in order to obtain the CICS PTF.
Note: You can download the FixDist application by using an anonymous FTP
from the IBM
AIX software FTP Web site:

Note: This section does not provide
complete
instructions for using FixDist. For the complete instructions,
see the FixDist
User's Guide, which is available by
anonymous
FTP from the
IBM AIX software
FTP Web site. To use FixDist to download the CICS PTF:
- Create a temporary directory on your
machine. Ensure that it is large
enough
to hold the PTF file.
- Use FixDist to download and unpack the
PTF file. Refer to the
FixDist User's
Guide for complete instructions if necessary. Be sure to use the
following
guidelines when you download the patch with FixDist:
- Ensure that you are searching the
AIXV4 database. (Click Databases -> AIXV4 to specify the
database.)
- Ensure that the FixDist Server
field contains the host aix.boulder.ibm.com.
- Ensure that the Target
Directory field contains the name of the
temporary directory that you created for the PTF file.
- Follow the install procedures that are given in
READPTF_<lang>.htm
file to install the PTF onto your system.
This is a cumulative update for the CICS functions of the TXSeries CICS
5.1.0.0 product. It also contains all the TXSeries CICS 5.1 APARs that have been processed
since the General-Availability (GA) of TXSeries CICS V5.1 on all
supported platforms.
