Support for WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server V6.0.2 in WebSphere Business Modeler Version 6.0.1 Interim Fix 6 and above

To take advantage of the new features of and performance enhancements in WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server Version 6.0.2, you must install WebSphere Business Modeler Version V6.0.1 Interim Fix 6 or above. You can now run WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server V6.0.2 on Linux distributions. Other benefits of the new WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server release include security enhancements, user interface improvements, and the treatment of Web addresses as hyperlinks.

Corrects the display of process models in swimlane layout when the role names that contain a comma (,)
Fixes the problem that generated an error message of "Unable to create part" when organizing process model elements by classifier in swimlane layout

If you have a process model with role names that contain a comma (,), you might have had problems with the display of its diagram in swimlane mode. For example, the assignment of the swimlanes might have been incorrect. The fix (JR24649) provided in Interim Fix 5 makes it easy to correct these problems. However, the Interim Fix 5 product notes contained incorrect instructions for fixing these swimlane layout display problems. Use the following instructions instead.

Note:

Although the fix JR24843 eliminates an error message of "Unable to create part" when you organize process model elements by classifier in swimlane layout, you might see a missing line below the last swimlane header (left column) when you open a process model that you created before this interim fix. You can correct this swimlane layout display problem using the following instructions.

To correct swimlane layout display problems, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the affected process model in swimlane layout:
  2. Right click on the diagram, and select Auto-Layout Left to Right. The auto-layout function corrects the display of your diagram.
  3. To save the changes, press Ctrl + S or click File > Save.

Changes simulation configuration options so that you can extend the working duration for tasks until the last resource assigned to each task is done

Once you have specified the time required for resources and assigned the resources to tasks, a simulation waits for the required resources to be available before it calculates the working duration for a task. You can now specify that the working duration for a task ends only when the last resource assigned to the task is done. The default behavior is for the working duration to equal the time allotted for a task.

To change your simulation configuration preferences to extend the working duration for tasks until the last resource assigned to each task is done, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Window > Preferences, and then click Business Modeling > Simulation > General.
  2. For the "Wait for resources' required time to end before completing a task" radio buttons, click Yes.
  3. Click OK.

Provides configuration options for the dynamic analysis of a process model with a large number of nested processes and possible cases that help prevent out-of-memory errors

If you have a process model with a large number of nested processes and possible cases, identifying the static cases might cause WebSphere Business Modeler to hang or run out of memory. Updates to the business modeling preferences give you options for analyzing a process model that has a large number of possible cases without generating these problems.

Navigate to the business modeling preferences for dynamic analysis by clicking Window > Preferences, and then clicking Business Modeling > Dynamic Analysis.

Update to the help documentation: Installation location for WebSphere Business Modeler as a set of Eclipse plug-ins with WebSphere Integration Developer must be the ...\rwd\eclipse directory

Problem history:

Fix: When you install WebSphere Business Modeler as a set of Eclipse plug-ins with WebSphere Integration Developer, you must specify the ...\rwd\eclipse directory as the location for your installation.

If you have installed WebSphere Business Modeler in its own folder, you can correct the configuration by completing the following steps:

  1. Click Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration. The Product Configuration window opens.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select the the root element of the tree. In WebSphere Integration Developer, for example, this element is labeled "WebSphere Integration Developer".
  3. In the right pane, click Add an Extension Location. The Browse for Folder window opens.
  4. Specify the ...\rwd\eclipse directory inside the folder that you created for the WebSphere Business Modeler feature, and click OK.
  5. Restart WebSphere Integration Developer or the Rational product with which you have installed WebSphere Business Modeler.

Action must be taken before the fix for layout deficiencies in complex process diagrams can take effect

To make the interim fix changes take effect, complete the following steps:

  1. Collapse all the diagrams that have already been expanded.
  2. Save the diagrams.
  3. Expand the diagrams again.
