Update to help documentation for Installing WebSphere Business Modeler as plug-ins for WebSphere Integration Developer or supported Rational products.

The installation instructions recommend that you create a new folder to hold the WebSphere Integration Developer features.  This statement refers to the WebSphere Business Modeler features that you are installing into WebSphere Integration Developer.   The release notes additionally state that this recommendation be taken as mandatory.

However, it is no longer recommended that you create a new folder. Instead it is recommended that you accept whichever folder is presented to you as the default installation location.  The creation of a new folder has been found to cause configuration issues that stop WebSphere Business Modeler from functioning properly. In particular, it causes the Modeler perspective and functionality to become inaccessible. If you have installed WebSphere Business Modeler into its own folder, you can correct the configuration by completing the following steps:

  1. Click Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration.  The Product Configuration window opens.
  2. In the navigation tree, selecting the the root element of the tree.  In WebSphere Integration Developer, this element is labeled "WebSphere Integration Developer."
  3. Click Add an Extension Location.  The Browse for Folder window opens.
  4. Specify the eclipse directory inside the folder you created for the WebSphere Business Modeler feature and click OK.
  5. Restart WebSphere Integration Developer.
