This README file provides instructions for applying the APAR on WebSphere Commerce 5.6.0.0 fix pack.


Terminology used in this book
cell_name
This variable represents the name of the WebSphere Application Server cell.

host_name
The fully qualified host name of your WebSphere Commerce machine. For example, server.mydomain.ibm.com is fully qualified.

instance_name
The name of a previously-created WebSphere Commerce instance.

installer_dir
The directory to which the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool has been extracted.

APARfix_dir
The temporary directory to which the files for the APAR fix have been extracted.


Path variables
HttpServer_installdir
The installation path for the IBM HTTP Server. The default installation directory is:
/usr/WebSphere/IBMHttpServer

WAS_installdir
The installation path for WebSphere Application Server 5. The default installation directory is:
/usr/WebSphere/AppServer

WC_installdir
The installation path for WebSphere Commerce 5.6. The default installation directory is:
/usr/WebSphere/CommerceServer56

What's in this README

This README file describes the product changes found in the JR20173_aix fix.

APAR JR20173_aix is to install migration files that are required for WebSphere Commerce Payments instance backup.

Ensure that you have installed the WebSphere Commerce 5.6.0.0 fix pack before applying this fix. This fix is not applicable to any other fix pack versions. This fix does not require upgrades to additional supported software.


Installing JR20173 (Graphical User Interface)

  1. The WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool, consisting of the updateSilent.sh and updateWizard.sh scripts and supporting files, is required to install this APAR fix. Note: WebSphere Application Server also has a similar update tool that will not work for WebSphere Commerce.
  2. Please extract/unzip the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool to a temporary directory. The location of the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool will be denoted by: installer_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.
  3. Obtain the JR20173 APAR fix package from WebSphere Commerce Support and extract the files into a temporary directory. This temporary directory will be denoted by: APARfix_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.

  4. Ensure that you are logged in as the root user in AIX.

  5. Stop the following processes (if running):

    For instructions on how to stop and start processes, refer to the IBM WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6 Installation Guide.

  6. Using the command line, navigate to installer_dir and type the following command: updateWizard.sh
  7. Click OK for English.
  8. Click Next to continue.
  9. Click Next to accept the WebSphere Commerce product found on your computer.
  10. Select Install fixes. Click Next.
  11. Click Browse. Navigate to and select the APARfix_dir directory, then click Open. Click Next.
  12. Select the APAR to install by clicking the checkbox, then click Next to continue.
  13. Click Next to begin installing.
  14. Ensure that the installer displays the message The following fix was successfully installed. If you do not get this message the installer will indicate which log files to check.
  15. Click Finish to exit the Update Wizard.
  16. Using the command line, navigate to WC_installdir/bin
  17. As the root user, execute the command: ./wcnonroot.sh
  18. Installation is complete.

Installing JR20173 (Silent)

  1. The WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool, consisting of the updateSilent.sh and updateWizard.sh scripts and supporting files, is required to install this APAR fix. Note: WebSphere Application Server also has a similar update tool that will not work for WebSphere Commerce.
  2. Please extract/unzip the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool to a temporary directory. The location of the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool will be denoted by: installer_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.
  3. Obtain the JR20173 APAR fix package from WebSphere Commerce Support and extract the files into a temporary directory. This temporary directory will be denoted by: APARfix_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.
  4. Ensure that you are logged in as the root user in AIX.
  5. Stop the following processes (if running):

    For instructions on how to stop and start processes, refer to the IBM WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6 Installation Guide.

  6. Using the command line, navigate to installer_dir.
  7. Type following, replacing where appropriate, options specific to your WebSphere Commerce installation.

    ./updateSilent.sh fix install WC_installDir JR20173 APARfix_dir

  8. Press Enter.
  9. Ensure that the installer displays the message Fix installation completed successfully. If you do not get this message the installer will indicate the log files to check.

  10. Using the command line, navigate to WC_installdir/bin
  11. As the root user, execute the command: ./wcnonroot.sh
  12. Installation is complete.

Uninstalling JR20173 (Graphical User Interface)

  1. The WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool, consisting of the updateSilent.sh and updateWizard.sh scripts and supporting files, is required to install this APAR fix. Note: WebSphere Application Server also has a similar update tool that will not work for WebSphere Commerce.
  2. Please extract/unzip the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool to a temporary directory. The location of the WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool will be denoted by: installer_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.
  3. Ensure that you are logged in as the root user in AIX.

  6. Click OK for English.
  7. Click Next to continue.
  8. Click Next to accept the WebSphere Commerce product found on your computer.
  9. Select Uninstall fixes. Click Next.
  10. Select the fix to be uninstalled. Click Next to continue.
  11. Click Next to uninstall the fix.
  12. Ensure that the installer displays the message The following fix was successfully uninstalled. If you do not get this message the installer will indicate the log files to check.
  13. Click Finish to complete the uninstallation.

Uninstalling JR20173 (Silent)

  1. The WebSphere Commerce 5.6 update installation tool, consisting of the updateSilent.sh and updateWizard.sh scripts and supporting files, is required to install this APAR fix. Note: WebSphere Application Server also has a similar update tool that will not work for WebSphere Commerce.

  8. The APAR uninstallation is complete. Ensure that the installer displays the message The following fix was successfully uninstalled. If you do not get this message the installer will indicate the log files to check.
