This README file provides instructions for applying the APAR on WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1.
Terminology used in this book
instance_name
The name of a previously created WebSphere Commerce instance.
installer_dir
The directory to which the WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 update installation tool has been extracted.
When you install fix pack 1 the update installation tool was downloaded and copied to your WSAD install directory.
We will refer to this directory as installer_dir. The default location is:
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Application Developer\v5.1.1\Installer
APARfix_dir
The temporary directory to which the files for the APAR fix have been extracted.
Path variables
WCDE_installdir
This is the installation directory for WebSphere Commerce Developer Edition. The default installation directories are:
For Business Edition: C:\WCToolkitBE561
For Professional Edition: C:\WCToolkitPro561
For Express Edition: C:\WCToolkitExpress561

This README file provides instructions for the proper installation and un-installation of the JR29659
interim fix. Please follow the instructions carefully.
APAR JR29659 is update end date values in SAR files and bootsrap files.
Software Versions
This APAR may be installed on WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 Developer Edition versions 5.6.1.4.
This interim fix may not be applicable to any other fix pack versions of WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 Developer Edition.
No upgrades to any of the additional supported software are needed.
Installation Tool
The WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 update installation tool, consisting of the updateSilent.bat and updateWizard.bat scripts and supporting files,
is required to install this APAR fix.
    Warning: WebSphere Application Server also has a similar update tool. Do not use it to install WebSphere Commerce APAR fixes.
If you do not have the WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 update installation tool, you may download it at the
WebSphere Commerce Support Site.
If you are downloading the WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 update installation tool please extract/unzip
it to a temporary directory. The location of the WebSphere Commerce 5.6.1 update installation tool will be denoted by
installer_dir in the remaining sections of this guide.
- Ensure that you are logged in with a Windows user ID that is a member of the Administrators group.
- Stop the following processes (if running):
- WebSphere Commerce Test Server. For example, server1 in WSAD.
- WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager server.
For instructions on how to stop and start services, refer to the IBM
WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6.1 Installation Guide.
- Navigate to installer_dir and double-click on updateWizard.bat.
- Click OK for English.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to accept the WebSphere Commerce product found on your
computer. Note you may have to manually navigate to the WCDE_installdir
- Select Install fixes. Click Next.
- Click Browse. Navigate to and click once on the APARfix_dir directory to select it. Click Open.
Click Next.
- Select the APAR to install by clicking the checkbox, then click Next to continue.
- Click Next to begin installing.
- Ensure that the installer displays the message The following fix was
successfully installed. If you do not get this message the installer will
indicate which log files to check.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
- Identify the directory where the WebSphere Commerce classes are located. e.g. C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro561\AppServer\classes
- Backup and save the following file. The backup will be needed if you ever must uninstall this fix. C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro561\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar
- Update the C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro56\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar with the files in manual_patch.zip and make the file path stay the same as they were before.
- Ensure that you are logged in with a Windows user ID that is a member of the Administrators group.
- Stop the following processes (if running):
- WebSphere Commerce Test Server. For example, server1 in WSAD.
- WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager server.
For instructions on how to stop and start services, refer to the IBM
WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6.1 Installation Guide.
- Using the command line, navigate to installer_dir.
- Type the following command replacing, where appropriate, options specific to your WebSphere Commerce installation.
updateSilent.bat fix install WCDE_installdir JR29659 APARfix_dir
- Press Enter.
- Ensure that the installer displays the message Fix installation
completed successfully. If you do not get this message the installer will
indicate the log files to check.
- Identify the directory where the WebSphere Commerce classes are located. e.g. C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro561\AppServer\classes
- Backup and save the following file. The backup will be needed if you ever must uninstall this fix. C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro561\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar
- Update the C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro56\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar with the files in manual_patch.zip and make the file path stay the same as they were before.
Installation is complete.
- Ensure you are logged in with a Windows user ID that is a member of the Administrators group.
- Stop the following processes (if running):
- Web server and its respective administration processes,
- WebSphere Commerce Application Servers. For example, WC_instance_name.
- WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager server.
For instructions on how to stop and start services, refer to the IBM
WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6.1 Installation Guide.

Using the command line (DOS window), navigate to installer_dir and type the
following command: updateWizard.bat.
- Click OK for English.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to accept the WebSphere Commerce product found on your
computer. Note you may have to manually navigate to the WCDE_installdir
- Select Uninstall fixes. Click Next.
- Select the fix to be uninstalled. Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to uninstall the fix.
- Ensure that the installer displays the message The following fix was
successfully uninstalled. If you do not get this message the installer
will indicate the log files to check.
- Click Finish to complete the uninstallation.
- Restore the C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro56\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar which was backed up before install.
- Ensure that you are logged in with a Windows user ID that is a member of the Administrators group.
- Stop the following processes (if running):
- Web server and its respective administration processes,
- WebSphere Commerce Application Servers. For example, WC_instance_name.
- WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager server.

- Restore the C:\WebSphere\WCToolkitPro56\AppServer\classes\wcs.jar which was backed up before install.
- Uninstallation is complete.
