Promotion Properties

Use this page to name and provide descriptions for your promotion.

Name
(required) Type the name of the promotion in this field.
Description
Type a meaningful description of the promotion in this field. This description displays in the primary Promotions list, and helps identify the promotion internally.
Short description (Displayed to customers)
Type a meaningful description of the promotion in this field. This description displays on store pages accessible by your customers. If your store supports multiple languages, you may log in to the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator in those languages to enter the translated description. You can also load the translated descriptions directly into the database.
Long Description (Displayed to customers)
Type a meaningful description of the promotion in this field. This description displays on store pages accessible by your customers. If your store supports multiple languages, you may log in to the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator in those languages to enter the translated description. You can also load the translated descriptions directly into the database.
This is a coupon promotion
Select this option if you want to create a coupon promotion. If you select this option, a Number of days until coupon expires field displays, in which you must enter a number which represents the number of days between when a coupon is issued, and when the coupon expires. The day on which the coupon is issued counts toward this expiration period.
Promotion group
Select the promotion group to which this promotion belongs. The selection made using this list changes the options available in the Promotion Type list.
Promotion type
Select the type of promotion that you want to create.
Product promotions
If you have selected the product promotion group, the following types are available:
  • Percentage off per item
  • Fixed amount off per item
  • Fixed amount off for all
  • Buy X, get one more item at a discount
  • Free gift with purchase
Order promotions
If you have selected the order promotion group, the following types are available:
  • Percentage off
  • Fixed amount off
  • Free gift with purchase
Shipping promotions
If you have selected the shipping promotion group, the following types are available:
  • Discounted shipping
Priority
Select the priority for the promotion. When a single order qualifies for multiple promotions, the promotion with the highest priority is applied first. In cases where multiple promotions are permitted, they are applied in order according to their decreasing priority values.
Combination with other promotions
Select the option that reflects how you want this promotion considered with respect to other promotions. That is, you must specify whether this promotion can be applied to an order in conjunction with other promotions.
Promotion code
Optionally, enter a promotion code for the promotion. If you enter a code, customers must enter the matching code to qualify for the promotion. If you specify a promotion code, you must have some manner in which you can distribute the code to customers. Also, ensure that you enter a unique promotion code. If you enter a promotion code that has been used previously, the system will have no way in which to determine which promotion should be applied, and will choose one randomly.
Target sales volume
Use this field to record the target sales objective for the promotion.
Maximum redemptions in total
Select the option that represents whether you need to limit the total number of redemptions for the promotion. If you choose to limit the number of redemptions, a Maximum redemptions field displays in which you must enter the limit.
Maximum redemptions per order
Select the option that represents whether you need to limit the number of redemptions of the promotion a customer can make for any single order. If you choose to limit the number of redemptions, a Maximum redemptions field displays in which you must enter the limit.
Maximum redemptions per customer
Select the option that represents whether you need to limit the number of redemptions of the promotion a particular customer can make. If you choose to limit the number of redemptions, a Maximum redemptions field displays in which you must enter the limit.
Dates promotion is available
Select whether there are limits to the availability of the promotions. The values are either Always in effect, or During a specified period. If you choose to set a specified period, the following options display:
Start Date
The date when the promotion becomes available.
End Date
The date when the promotion ceases to be available.
Days promotion is available
Select when this promotion is available. The values are either Every day of the week, or Selected days of the week. If you select Selected days of the week, new options display, which provide a manner by which to select the days that you want to target. You can select any number of days.
Monday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Mondays.
Tuesday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Tuesdays.
Wednesday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Wednesdays.
Thursday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Thursdays.
Friday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Fridays.
Saturday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Saturdays.
Sunday
Select this check box to specify that the promotion is available on Sundays.
Time of day promotion is available
Select whether there are limits to the availability of the promotions. The values are either All through the day, or During a specified time of day. If you choose to set a specified period, the following options display:
Start Time
The time of day when the promotion becomes available.
End Time
The time of day when the promotion ceases to be available.
Customer segments
Select whether the promotion has target customer segments. The values are either All customer segments, or Specific customer segments. If you choose to select one or more specific segments, the following options display:
Selected customer segments
This lists the target customer segments.
Available customer segments
This lists the customer segments available as targets of the promotion.
