Prerequisites
- Ensure that the machine on which you are installing the Multichannel Sales Center meets the hardware and operating system prerequisites.
- Ensure that you are logged in as a user with sufficient system privileges to install new software.
- Ensure that the Web applet installer has been prepared.
- If an interactive Web applet installer has been prepared, ensure that you have the following information:
- Directory on the machine where you want to install the Multichannel Sales Center.
- Fully qualified host name for the WebSphere Commerce server.
This is the same host name used to access other WebSphere Commerce tools such as WebSphere Commerce Accelerator. - Port number for communication with the WebSphere Commerce server. The default port is 443.
- (optional) URL for Update Manager site.
This URL is used to update IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce components and can be set at any time. - Starting language for IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce. This is the language that IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce always displays when it starts.
- Ensure that you have a Java-enabled Web browser installed on your system, such as the following:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
- Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher
- Ensure that you have the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) or Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 1.4 or higher installed.
The Web browser plug-in for the JRE must be installed for the installer to function. - Ensure that your machine has network access to both the machine serving the Web applet installer and the WebSphere Commerce machine.
Procedure
To install IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce from Web browser:
- Obtain the URL for the Web applet installer. How you obtain the URL for the Web applet installer depends on your organization.
- Open your Web browser and enter the URL for the Web applet installer.
As the file loads, you might receive security warnings asking if you trust signed applets distributed by IBM and InstallShield. You must trust these signed applets for the browser-based installation to work.
- On the resulting Web page, click Install.
If you click Cancel, you will be redirected to a page with the following message:
This applet installation wizard does not support your operating system. Please use an alternate installation method such as native executable or .jar file installation.
You can safely ignore this error message.
If an interactive Web applet installer has been prepared, follow the prompts provided and enter the information requested.
If an non-interactive Web applet installer has been prepared, messages and a progress bar will display, but you will not be prompted for any information.
After the installation completes, review IMSC_installdir\log\tsinstall.log to ensure no errors occurred during the installation.
Before you can use IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce to accomplish customer service tasks, WebSphere Commerce must be configured correctly including the following:
- A store is published.
- The store published is enabled for advanced orders.
IBM Multichannel Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce can not be used with stores using standard orders.
