Product Management - SKUs

Use the Product Management dynamic table to manage your SKU information, and view details about your SKUs. The dynamic table is divided into the following tabs: Details, Category, Description, Extended Description, Images, and Custom. Click on one of the following links to view the help:

A note on the Product Management dynamic table icons
Each type of catalog entry is depicted by a symbol rather than text. Use the following legend to identify the catalog entry:

Product The product symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (not available on this page) or The new product symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (new)
SKU The SKU symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. or The new SKU symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (new)
Prebuilt kit The prebuilt kit symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (not available on this page) or The new prebuilt kit symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (new)
Dynamic kit The new dynamic kit symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (not available on this page) or The new dynamic kit symbol in the Product Management dynamic table. (new)

Details

Use this table to manage your SKU information, and view details about your products.

Code
Type the SKU code, which uniquely identifies the item within the WebSphere Commerce system. This SKU code is based upon the parent product code (before attributes). For example, if the product code for a "Ladies' cable-knit sweater" is SKU-12345, then the individual SKU for each attribute would be SKU-12345-1 (Ladies' cable-knit sweater, small, red), SKU-12345-2 (Ladies' cable-knit sweater, medium, red), SKU-12345-3 (Ladies' cable-knit sweater, large, red), and so on. If you click the linked number, the Change SKU notebook opens.
Name
Type the name of the SKU, such as "Ladies' cable-knit sweater". The product name is language specific; that is, if the product is offered at a French store and a Japanese store, and you want to change its name for both stores, you must type the new name in this field for each store. To work in another language, click the Select icon, found in the upper left corner. Note that you can switch to a different language only if you are authorized to work with more than one of the WebSphere Commerce supported languages and if the language is available.
Buyable
Select this box if the SKU is available for purchase.
Manufacturer
Type the name of the SKU manufacturer or vendor.
Manufacturer Part Number
Type the part number for the SKU, uniquely identified by the product manufacturer. The part number is different from the code.
Edit
Click this button to view SKU images, and find and replace text within the Product Management table. You can also copy the contents of a cell, and paste it to another cell or column.
Actions
Click this button to create a new SKU, change or delete a SKU.
Prices
Click this button to add or change a SKU's price, and list the pricing summary.
Tools
Click this button to show merchandising associations, and descriptive attributes for a SKU.
Save
Click this button to save the SKU changes for your catalog.

Category

Use this table to view the category for your SKU.

Code
Type the SKU code, which uniquely identifies the item within the WebSphere Commerce system. This SKU code is based upon the parent product code (before attributes). Description

Use this table to manage your SKU descriptions. The SKU description is language specific; that is, if the SKU is offered at a French store and a Japanese store, and you want to change its description for both stores, you must include the new information in the Product Management table page for each store. To work in another language, click the Select icon, found in the upper left corner. Note that you can switch to a different language only if you are authorized to work with more than one of the WebSphere Commerce supported languages and if the language is available.

Short Description
Type a brief description of the SKU, such as "A unisex turtleneck made of merino wool".
Long Description
Type a detailed description of the SKU, such as "A unisex turtleneck made of merino wool. This sweater is available in five colors: black, oatmeal, wine, taupe, and white. This classic look is available in sizes XS to XXL".

Type the URL where customers can download the SKU (in the case of software) or more information about the SKU.

Images

Use this table to add or maintain the image information for a SKU. The SKU image is language specific; that is, if the SKU is offered at a French store and a Japanese store, and you want to change its image or image location for both stores, you must include the new information in the Product Management table page for each store. To work in another language, click the Select icon, found in the upper left corner. Note that you can switch to a different language only if you are authorized to work with more than one of the WebSphere Commerce supported languages and if the language is available.

Thumbnail
Type the path to the SKU thumbnail image and the name of the image. All SKU image files should be placed in the store's defined image directory.

Full Image
Type the path to the SKU full size image and the name of the image. All SKU image files should be placed in the store's defined image directory.

WebSphere Commerce development environment\images\leathercoat_full.gif The correct image directory and whether you need an absolute or relative path depends on your store's configuration. Ask a store developer with Site Administrator authority for the correct image directory. For example, the WebSphere Commerce starter store images use a relative path to the default installation path.
Keyword
Type a keyword. This keyword will be used when searching for SKUs.
