Important information about CSV files
- To save uploading time, you should first compress the CSV file(s) into a ZIP file by using a zip compression utility and then upload the ZIP file.
- In a worksheet, the first row must contain the column heading information and not data. Data in the first row will not be imported.
- Your CSV data may be in two formats:
- One CSV file containing multiple CSV worksheets, similar to CSV worksheets for catalog data.
- An extra column is required to indicate to which worksheet each row belongs. This column must be the left-most column in each row. You must sort the rows by this column.
- One or more CSV files each containing one CSV worksheet.
- The files should be compressed into one ZIP file before uploading.
- One CSV file containing multiple CSV worksheets, similar to CSV worksheets for catalog data.
- By default, you can upload both CSV and ZIP files up to 10 MB in size. To change the maximum file size, see Troubleshooting file upload.
- Do not publish a store and load catalog data at the same time. Before loading catalog data, ensure that no store publishing activity is running.
To load catalog data in CSV format:
- Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.
From the Merchandise menu, click Catalog Import.
From the Products menu, click Catalog Import.
If you do not see this menu, then your logon ID does not have the appropriate authority to perform this task. Contact your Site Administrator.- The Catalog Upload and Import page displays. Click Upload Catalog.
Note: You can create the catalog data in CSV format using the provided catalog CSV worksheets as a guide. - The Catalog Upload page displays. Do the following:
- Select the file encoding for the catalog data. The default is UTF-8. Special characters may require different encoding. For example, characters with accents or special characters such as the copyright symbol,
, require file encoding Windows Latin-1. Choosing the incorrect file encoding will cause the Catalog Import to fail.
- Select the catalog file name.
- Click Upload File.
- Select the file encoding for the catalog data. The default is UTF-8. Special characters may require different encoding. For example, characters with accents or special characters such as the copyright symbol,
- Once you receive a confirmation that the file has been uploaded successfully, click OK to return to the Catalog Upload and Import list.
- Publish your uploaded catalog CSV data.
