There are a variety of ways that you can manage your payments with WebSphere Commerce:
- Use standard order processing, the WebSphere Commerce Payments component, and a payment cassette
- Use advanced order processing and the WCPayments plug-in to bridge to the WebSphere Commerce Payments component and a payment cassette
- Use advanced order processing and a payment plug-in (either provided by IBM with WebSphere Commerce or by a third party). This way does not involve the use of the WebSphere Commerce Payments component.
Standard orders You can choose to publish your consumer direct or B2B direct starter store with or without WebSphere Commerce Payments, and your store will still be fully functional. In other words, even if you do not install or enable WebSphere Commerce Payments, you will be able to complete your orders.
Follow the directions appropriate for your setup when using standard orders:
- Processing orders with WebSphere Commerce Payments enabled
- Processing orders without enabling WebSphere Commerce Payments
Advanced orders You can publish your consumer direct or B2B direct starter store and your store will process event-driven payments through the use of the Payment Plug-in Controller and payment plug-ins. The starter stores come equipped to process payments using the SimpleOffline payment plug-in and its supported payment methods, although each starter store may use different payment methods.
