Objective

To allow the customer to check out the items in a shopping cart.

Description

Before submitting an order for processing, the customer needs to provide the store with billing address, shipping address, and payment information. This information is stored for a registered customer. A registered customer can also create a quick checkout profile. The quick checkout profile contains the same information. If there are any predefined discounts, the discounts are automatically applied to the order. The customer can view the discounts on the Order Summary page.

Customization

The quick checkout feature may be enabled or disabled by using the Change Flow notebook in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator. If the order status page is enabled; then the shipment tracking feature may be optionally enabled. The ability to allow customers to ship a single order to multiple addresses may be enabled using the Change Flow notebook.

Choose checkout type

A registered customer can choose checkout type: regular checkout, or quick checkout.

Customers have the option to provide a promotion code to receive discounts or special offers on their order.

Remove unavailable item from cart

If not all the items in customers' shopping cart are available at the same time, they can remove the unavailable item(s).

Enter billing address

The customer provides a billing address and submits it. The address is remembered for the registered customer. For guest customers, the address is remembered as long as the customer does not close the browser.
