Creating a customer segment based on WebSphere Commerce Analyzer datamining results

Before creating a customer segment based on WebSphere Commerce Analyzer datamining results, you must have WebSphere Commerce configured such that the Intelligent Miner option is selected on the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator tab of the Configuration Manager. Furthermore, you should have recent results from the datamining process to ensure that you are not working from stale data. To generate datamining results, refer to Data mining. Finally, it is also expected that these results will be evaluated by a business intelligence expert in conjunction with a line of business representative, using Intelligent Miner, prior to using the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to create the segment. During this evaluation process, you should predetermine the model and segment upon which you want to base your new customer segment.

To create a customer segment based on WebSphere Commerce Analyzer datamining results:

  1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.
  2. From the Marketing menu, click Customer Segments.
    The Customer Segment List page displays, containing customer segments currently defined for the selected store. If you do not see this menu, then your logon ID does not have the appropriate authority to perform this task. Contact your Site Administrator.
  3. Click New to create a new customer segment. The Customer Segment wizard opens.
  4. After completing the General information panel, click Customers in the navigation panel, and then click Included Customers. The Included Customer List page displays, containing all of the customers explicitly included in the current segment.
  5. Click Import.
  6. Select the appropriate model, segment, and score, to represent your target customer segment.
  7. Click OK to add these customers to your customer segment. The list of customers displays only after the customer segment has been saved.
