Advanced Orders Kits can contain other kits, as well as SKUs that are not part of a kit. Dynamic kits can contain dynamic kits and static kits can contain static kits. This is useful when, for example, you have two kits that you want to combine into one.
The following diagrams show examples of kits that contain kits.
A kit that contains kits is very similar to other kits, for example, it can be displayed in a store and added to and removed from a shopping cart.
Other characteristics of kits that contain kits include:
- Kits that contain kits are available only in stores that support advanced orders.
- The table OICOMPREL maintains the structure of a kit that contains kits and uses the structure during fulfillment.
- Dynamic kits that contain dynamic kits, like regular dynamic kits, are configured at order entry time. Contents of a dynamic kit are configured by an external product configurator that interacts with the customer and passes the dynamic kit information back to WebSphere Commerce.
For more information, see Configurable products.
- Contents of static kits that contain static kits, like regular static kits, are specified by a store employee, for example a Product Manager, not by the customer. Static kits do not require any extra configuration and can be added directly to a shopping cart.
