Opening the Configuration Manager on Windows

To create or configure a WebSphere Commerce or a WebSphere Commerce Payments instance, you should use the Configuration Manager.

To open WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager on Windows:

  1. Ensure that the IBM WC Configuration Manager server process is running by doing the following:
    1. Do one of the following:
      • Windows 2000 Open the Computer Management console by selecting Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management and then expand Services and Applications and select Services.
      • Windows 2003 Open the Computer Management console by selecting Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
    2. Check that the IBM WC 5.7 Configuration Manager server service has a status of Started.
Important: Leaving the IBM WC 5.7 Configuration Manager server service running could potentially pose a security problem. Stop the IBM WC 5.7 Configuration Manager server service when you are not using Configuration Manager. By default, this service is stopped when you exit Configuration Manager.

To prevent potential security problems, you should also ensure that the IBM WC Configuration Manager server is set for manual startup, not automatic.

  2. Select Start > Programs > IBM WebSphere > Commerce Server 5.7 > Configuration.
  3. In the Config Authentication window, enter the Configuration Manager user ID and password and click OK.
