Reduce costs, improve service, and manage risk: It’s rare to find a rack server that can help you meet all three of these goals equally well. But the IBM System x3550 M2 and x3650 M2 servers are designed to do exactly that. They’re IBM’s flagship two-socket servers, delivered in a 1U or 2U package that delivers power-optimized performance for your business-critical applications like Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange, distributed databases like DB2, or enterprise resource planning applications like SAP and Oracle. The System x3550 M2 and x3650 M2 can help dramatically lower operational costs and provide up to double the performance. They can improve service with greater flexibility and management. And they can help manage risk easily with the scalability for growth and advanced virtualization capabilities. |

Equipped with the latest generation of Intel Xeon Series 5500 processors, the IBM System x3550 M2 and x3650 M2 support up to eight processor cores, delivering higher performance than previous-generation two-socket IBM x86 servers based on Intel processors. In addition to the Intel processors, each server supports up to 128GB of fast DDR3 memory, to provide more compute performance and faster throughput than servers based on previous generations of DDR2 memory. |

But while they’re built with the power and performance to do as much work as fast as possible, the IBM System x3550 M2 and x3650 M2 are also designed to keep down the cost of operation and ownership. The key is a breakthrough new energy-efficient design that lowers energy costs by dramatically reducing power usage. This energy smart design can reduce operational costs over $100 per server per year. Included in the server’s thermal envelope are low-wattage, high-efficiency power supplies, an altimeter for optimal cooling fan speed, and a number of innovative energy monitoring and management features. |
