The following sections provide information about known issues with this service pack.


Issues Addressed in This Release

This service pack includes the following previously released hotfixes. For more information about these hotfixes, search on the Qxxxxxx number in the Microsoft Help and Support Web site.

This service pack also resolves issues in the previous release of Windows Powered NAS 2.01 as follows.

Installation Requirements

In order to run Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a, the computer must be configured as follows:

Installing this Service Pack

Do not use the SAK 2.01 software update feature to install Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a.

To install Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a on an existing network attached storage server, you must copy the nas2sp1asetup.msi file to the computer. Use Terminal Services to connect to the computer and run the .msi file.

This service pack bundles a number of hotfixes together. Do not install the individual hotfixes bundled with Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a after installing this service pack. To install a particular hotfix that is bundled in this service pack, reinstall this service pack.

The hotfixes bundled with Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a are also supported on a network attached storage device with the Server Appliance Kit 2.5 Add-on Pack installed.

Unattended Installation

To perform an unattended (quiet mode) installation of this service pack, run the following from the command line: msiexec /i nas2sp1asetup.msi /qn

Notes

Uninstalling Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a

To remove this service pack after installation, use Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

End User License Agreement

When you run an unattended installation of this service pack, you accept the terms of the end user license agreement (EULA) by default. The EULA (eula.rtf) is located in the root directory of the Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a compact disc.

For OEMs: Preparing a Master Image for Manufacturing

Follow the instructions in the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK) to prepare a server appliance master OS image for manufacturing. After you install SAK 2.01, install Windows Powered NAS 2.01 SP1a in unattended mode.
