Defining Database Volumes
To define a new database
volume, first complete the following fields and then click Finish,
or click Cancel to end the task.
Volume Name
Enter the file name of the database volume to be defined.
- Volume names cannot contain embedded
blanks or equal signs, except on a Windows server.
- All database volumes must reside on a disk. Note for Sun Solaris
platform: Raw partitions generally
provide the best performance.
- Do not change the size of an allocated database volume
once it has been defined to the server. If you
change the size of database volumes, the server may not
initialize correctly and data could be lost.
- When you define a database volume, it must occupy at
least 5MB
of space. Regardless of the defined storage capacity of a
database volume, 1MB is not available for database
storage. For example, if you define a database volume
with a capacity of 9MB, 8MB are available for storage on
the volume.
Format Size
Enter the size of the volume to be defined. Enter the size in
megabytes.
Note: Format Size does
not apply to MVS
or VM.
Wait
Specify whether to wait for the server to complete processing
this command in the foreground. The default is No.
Yes |
The server processes this
command in the foreground. If you select Yes, you
wait for the command to complete before continuing with
other tasks. |
No |
The server processes this
command in the background. If you select No, you
can continue with other tasks while the command is being
processed. |
Note: Wait does
not apply to MVS or VM.
