Defining a Drive Path

To define a path for a NAS device, first complete the following fields and then click Finish, or click Cancel to end this task.

When you define a path, you make the destination (a drive) accessible to the source (a data mover on a NAS device or a storage agent).

Source Name

Enter the name of the data mover or storage agent that will be the source for data moved on this path. This entity must already be defined to the server.

Destination Name

Select the name of the drive that will be the destination for data moved on this path.

Source Type

Select the type of source. Possible values are:

DATAMOVER The source is a data mover, for example, a data mover in a NAS device.
SERVER The source is a defined server. Use this type to define a path from a storage agent to a destination drive entity.

Destination Type

DRIVE The destination entity is a drive. This entity must already be defined to the server.

Library Name

Select the library. A drive that is a destination must belong to this library.

Device

Enter the device name for the drive. The source uses this name to access the drive. For example, if you are defining a path from a NAS device to a drive, the device name is a special file name such as \mt0.

Device On-Line

Select whether the path is on-line, or available for use. The default is Yes.

Yes The path is available for use. However, the path is not available if either the source or the destination is not online.
No The path is not available for use.
