Installing Releases and Patches Using FTP

IBM Rational provides patches on our FTP server. This chapter describes how to use the FTP server to install patches.

Getting The Rational Patch Install Script, rppinstall

Get the rppinstall script from the server using a web browser. You will need internet connectivity to do this.

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rational/apex_patch_info/index.html

Select the rppinstall URL and do a File > Save As...

Note: You can download the rppinstall script and run it on a UNIX machine. The script will prompt you for the product, platform, and version of a product to patch. The product must already be installed.

Getting Patch Information

You can visit the IBM FTP server to get information about available patches.

To view the current list of available patches, visit the ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rational/apex_patch_info/index.html patch information page on our FTP server. From this page you can navigate to the patches you are interested in. There you will find instructions for installing each patch.
