Service and Custom Service Plan Item Delivery

When a service or custom service plan item is approved, a service authorization and one or more service authorization line items are created. Each service authorization line item represents a specific date or date range within which the participant is authorized to receive the service, as well as the number of units that are authorized, a rate at which payment is to be made, and a specific provider or provider type from which the participant is authorized to receive the service.

If a service plan item does not require approval, a service authorization and service authorization line item(s) are created when the plan item is first saved. This applies for plan items created manually be a user within a service plan as well as for plan items added to a service plan item as the result of the use of a service plan template.
